The Portuguese manager was sacked on Tuesday morning, after a disastrous first half to the Premier League season, when the club released a 65-word statement two days after the 3-1 loss to Liverpool.
Mourinho has fallen out with several of his big-name players during the campaign and nobody from the dressing room has posted any messages of thanks or farewell since the news of his departure.
The likes of Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford have more than five million followers each on Instagram and regularly post to the site.
But the closest any of the United players came to acknowledging Mourinho leaving was midfielders Lingard and Ander Herrera liking Instagram posts from other people.
Lingard liked a post which read: 'Thank you Jose for all the trophies and your time. Time for new change.United goalkeeping coach Emilio Alvarez wrote: 'Thank you Jose Mourinho, my best wishes and success,' which Herrera liked.
