The American is considered one Boxing's greatest ever boxers after winning 15 major world titles and finishing his career undefeated in 50 fights, and revealed his desire to follow in his late uncle Roger's footsteps in becoming a trainer.
The 43-year-old has not fought professionally since 2017 and has now revealed his desire to make a career change and move to the other side of the pads. Mayweather revealed the decision on his Instagram alongside a video of him putting his nephew through a gruelling session in his first boxing session.
'This is my first day working with my 14yr old nephew @slugboi.chris who has absolutely NO boxing experience at all, and this is my second time doing mitt work,' Mayweather wrote on his Instagram.
Mayweather's uncle and long-term trainer Roger passed away last month, who himself became a successful trainer after a boxing career of his own.
'As many of you know, I've had incredible trainers which included my dad and uncle. Due to the recent passing of my Uncle Roger, I’ve felt inspired to help those around me the same way they have been there for me throughout my boxing career', Mayweather added.
'In a time where we must distance ourselves from others, it has allowed me to reflect on how I want to make a difference in people lives and help them achieve their goals.
Mayweather also recently signed a deal to return to the boxing ring in digital form where he will go up against other boxing greats in digital fights.
