Arsenal announced players and coaching staff have taken 12.5% wage cuts, Ozil, the club's highest earner on £350,000-a-week, is one of those players

Mesut Ozil is resisting Arsenal's efforts to implement a squad-wide 12.5 per cent pay-cut.
Arsenal on Monday announced 'a voluntary agreement with our first-team players, head coach and core coaching staff' to cut salaries for a 12 month period.
However, there are as many as three players who are still to be totally convinced of the necessity to take total pay deductions, rather than deferrals, with Ozil understood to be one of those. Arsenal were also contacted but refused to discuss the issue because they regard it as the players' private business.

Paul Merson offered some brutal opinions on the state of Arsenal's squad Former club hero believes Gunners are a 'million miles' away from title challenge

Arsenal are a 'million miles off' challenging for the Premier League, according to Paul Merson                                                   The former Gunners striker isn't feeling any optimism since Mikel Arteta came in as manager because the team isn't capable of defending properly.
Arsenal sit a lowly ninth in the Premier League table at present and are eight points off the Champions League places. There had been a slight upturn in Premier League results prior to the Covid-19 shutdown but Arteta hadn't been able to immediately remedy Arsenal's defensive failings.
And asked on The Football Show on Sky Sports News whether the club could return to the top under Arteta, Merson was scathing in his verdict.
'Even if Pep Guardiola was in charge - no. I don't at the moment,' he replied.
'As Arsene Wenger used to say all the time, it is all about the players and Arsenal's players - it is not a good enough team, not a good enough squad.

Barcelona have reportedly planned to play games without fans until next year La Vanguardia claim that the Nou Camp may not open properly until February

Barcelona could play without fans at the Nou Camp until February next year due to coronavirus                                                   Barcelona could shut the Nou Camp to spectators for a further 10 months and not open its gates again until February 2021, according to an internal report drawn up by the club.
The revelation has been made by Catalan paper La Vanguardia, who have seen documents outlining two possible scenarios for the development of the financial crisis engulfing football because of the coronavirus shutdown.
In the more pessimistic of the two, the current season does not get completed; the transfer window is put back until August 15 and then shuts on September 15 when the 2020-21 season begins. This is the doomsday scenario that LaLiga president Javier Tebas says will cost Spanish football €1billion (£882million).
Most alarmingly for Barcelona, in this first possible future, the Nou Camp remains shut to the public until February of 2021.
The internal club report also outlines a more optimistic second scenario, with the season restarting on June 15 and finishing in the second week of August. But even in the second scenario, with football returning earlier and the season being completed, Barcelona are still not planning for fans being back in the Nou Camp before November 15, according to the La Vanguardia report.

Henry was dismissed by the French club after winning two of twelve matches Lopes believes the 'bright' and 'engaging' coach deserved more time in charge

Former Monaco midfielder Rony Lopes believes 'engaging' manager Thierry Henry was sacked prematurely during the 2018-19 season and could have become 'a fantastic coach' at the club.
The Arsenal icon was appointed Monaco boss in October 2018 after Leanardo Jardim was sacked. Les Monegasques had made an inauspicious start to the season, lying 18th in Ligue 1 after one win in nine matches.
Henry had previously worked with a Belgium team abounding with talent at the 2018 World Cup, but inherited an injury-ravaged squad upon his return to Stade Louis II.Henry won just two of his twelve matches in charge and was dismissed after the abject 5-1 home defeat by Strasbourg. He now manages Montreal Impact.
Jardim was reinstated after Henry's departure and Lopes, who played for both men before joining Sevilla in the summer, has lifted the lid on Frenchman's Monaco reign.
'The time with Henry was a very hard campaign because it was a moment in the season when we had 17 injured players,' Lopes said to The Athletic. 'We played in the Champions League with five strikers who were 18 years old.
