Arsenal's Matteo Guendouzi was booked for sarcastically placing the ball down Mike Dean cautioned the Frenchman during the FA Cup tie against Portsmouth

The French midfielder was cautioned by Dean during the first half of the Gunners' FA Cup tie with Portsmouth, leaving supporters bemused as to why he was booked.
Moments before the caution, Guendouzi managed to win his side a free kick just before the interval but when he tried to take it quickly, he was told the ball wasn't taken in the correct place. When he tried taking it again, Dean pointed out that the ball was again not in the correct position leading to a frustrated Guendouzi picking up the ball high above his head before placing it on the ground with his arms outstretched.

The sarcastic gesture was caught by Dean, who reached to his pocket before giving Guendouzi a yellow card for his actions. Speaking on the podcast, Dean said: 'I walk out, without being arrogant – there is a touch of arrogance and I know there is – but it's also a lot of confidence in myself because I believe in my ability.
'I do come across like a showman. If the ball comes towards me I will let it go through my legs, I love a stepover.
'I love what I do and the way I referee. It kind of comes out I enjoy what I do. I've had this the past 10 years.'
Arsenal fans took to Twitter to air their grievances with the veteran referee, by claiming it was typical of Dean to respond in such a way.
