Sanchez skipped training prior to the clash with the African champions in Moscow and is unlikely to start Chile's first game of the tournament.
Coach Juan Antonio Pizzi said: "Alexis had some health troubles a couple of days ago and, on Friday, we decided we would let him rest. Sanchez, Arturo Vidal and the rest of Chile's squad were shown warming up in Moscow ahead of the match against Cameroon, which takes place on Sunday.
The Arsenal forward looked his usual energetic self as he launched into challenges during the session and wore a beanie hat to keep out the Russian chill. The South American side displayed their team spirit by embracing at one point while training at their Moscow training base.
Bayern midfielder Vidal was also shown getting stuck in to a challenge with Inter star Gary Medel, who formerly played for Cardiff and Sevilla.
Chile have qualified for the 2017 Confederations Cup in Russia as winners of the 2015 Copa America, where they beat Argentina in the final.
