Manchester United have cast further doubt over Wayne Rooney’s future by removing him from their cover photo on Facebook.                                                                                                                               The Red Devils skipper had figured prominently on an image promoting the club’s new away shirt for 2017-18 when it was first released in May.
As you would expect from the captain of the club, Rooney was front and centre alongside team-mates Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard. United have, however, taken the opportunity to freshen up their social media accounts, and there is now a noticeable absentee in their graphics. Rooney has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford for some time.
Having slipped down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho, United’s all-time leading goalscorer is suddenly seeing less game time for club and country.
England completely overlooked him in their latest squad, with Gareth Southgate favouring other options. He told The Guardian in May: “I have got some decisions to make now over the next few weeks so I will talk with my family and then I will decide. I think I have to make a decision in terms of a football decision, and that is what I will do.” A return to Everton has been mooted for the 31-year-old forward, while interest is also reported to have been shown from China and America.                               Rooney removed from Man Utd's Facebook cover to fuel talk of summer exit
